Heart failure

What is heart failure?

The term heart failure is used when the heart does not pump blood as perfectly as it generally does. Heart pumping provides the body cells with oxygen and nutrient-rich blood. When the heart fails to perform its task perfectly, it does not supply enough blood to cells. You start feeling fatigue and the shortness of breath.

Symptoms:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Swelling of the legs and ankles or belly
  • Weight gain
  • Tiredness
  • Loss of appetite

Causes:

  • Coronary artery disease
  • Previous heart attack
  • Long-term high blood pressure
  • Diabetes
