Angina

What is Angina?

Angina has a very common symptom of chest pain. When you feel pressure on your chest and feel a squeezing sensation, it can be Angina. Sometimes it feels like a heart attack, but it is a warning sign of this severe heart issue.

When your heart does not get enough blood flow, you can feel the chest pain. Angina is a heart disease, which must be treated early. When your arteries which carry oxygen-rich blood to your heart get blocked, you can feel the problem.

Though angina can go away fast, it can be a symptom of a life-threatening heart problem. You must consult a doctor to know the reason of the problem and prevent any future possibilities.

Causes:

When your arteries are blocked by a fatty substance called plaque, it blocks the normal blood flow to the heart muscle. Here are some of the causes of this problem.

  • The major artery of the lungs gets a blockage
  • An enlarged or thickened heart
  • Narrowing valve in the main part of the heart
  • Tearing in the wall of the aorta

There are other causes of Angina besides the mentioned ones.

Symptoms:

Though chest pain is the common symptom, angina can be felt differently.

  • Aching
  • Burning
  • Heaviness
  • Pressure
  • Squeezing
  • Fullness in the chest
