Atherosclerosis

What is Atherosclerosis?

In this heart problem, arteries get hardened, narrowed, and slowly get blocked. This condition interrupts the blood flow. This heart complication can lead to severe heart diseases like heart attacks, strokes, and peripheral vascular diseases.

Cause:

Arteries are the blood vessels that flow blood from the heart to the body. These arteries are lined by a thin layer of cells which is called endothelium responsible for keeping the inside of arteries smooth and toned perfectly for blood flow. Atherosclerosis damaged the endothelium. High blood pressure, smoking, or high cholesterol can be the reason of this problem.

Symptom:

Atherosclerosis has no specific symptoms, but if plaques narrow down the wall of the artery, you can experience the angina problem, buttock pain, mini-strokes, and more.
